It’s amazing how plants can find a way into the most unsuspecting places. Check out this Cyrtosia; a fascinating variety of Japanese Orchid that was unintentionally introduced to the grounds at Longwood Gardens near Philadelphia. It thrives on a fungus (Armillaria) rather than through photosynthesis, because it has no leaves! We’ve discovered a rare plant growing in our forests. So rare, in fact, that it has never been found in the United States before. What is this plant and how did it end up at Longwood Gardens?!
